Asian Stocks Drop on China's Loan Curbs, Dell; Posco, BHP Slide

July 24 (Bloomberg) -- Asian stocks dropped after China's central bank clamped down on lending for the second time in two months, raising concern the region's second-biggest economy will slow and reduce sales for exporters such as Posco.

BHP Billiton led a slide in mining companies as metals prices fell. Samsung Electronics Co. and Quanta Computer Inc. declined after Dell Inc., the world's largest computer maker, said profit will miss analyst estimates.

``China's intention to cool its economy will weaken the growth momentum for exporters,'' said Choi Chang Hoon, who helps manage about $1.1 billion at Seoul-based Woori Credit Suisse Asset Management Co. ``There is still concern that the earnings recovery at tech companies may take longer than expected.''

The Morgan Stanley Capital International Asia-Pacific Index fell 0.7 percent to 120.75 as of 4:50 p.m.
