NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 12, 2006--Fitch Ratings affirms GreenPoint Mortgage Funding Inc.'s (GPM) residential primary servicer ratings for Alt-A and home equity/home equity lines of credit (HE/HELOC) loans at 'RPS2'. The ratings are based on the company's experienced management team, established technology, and expanded training programs. The ratings also reflect the financial strength of GPM's parent, North Fork Bancorporation (North Fork), which is rated 'A-', Rating Watch Negative by Fitch.

Washington Trust Second Quarter Earnings Up 9.5%

WESTERLY, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 24, 2006--Washington Trust Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ Global Market; symbol: WASH), parent company of The Washington Trust Company, today announced second quarter 2006 net income of $6.2 million, up 9.5 percent from the $5.6 million reported for the second quarter of 2005. On a diluted earnings per share basis, the Corporation earned 45 cents for the second quarter of 2006, up 4 cents, or 9.8 percent, from the 41 cents earned for the same quarter in 2005. The returns on average equity and average assets for the quarter ended June 30, 2006 were 15.28% and 1.02%, respectively, compared to 14.58% and 0.97%, respectively, for the comparable quarter in 2005.
