Cuban Migrants To Testify Against Alleged SmugglersMIAMI -- The 28 Cuban migrants who were being held on a U.S. Coast Guard cutter were brought to land Wednesday to testify against the three men accused of organizing a failed smuggling trip earlier this month, according to the Coast Guard. The migrants are being allowed to stay so they can testify as material witnesses in the smuggling case, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Miami. Thursday, a federal magistrate allowed the release of all 28 on bond agreements. They will be released into the custody of family members. "The presence of the 28 migrants in the United States best furthered the United States' interest in a criminal prosecution of this matter," local U.S. Attorney Alex Acosta said in a statement Thursday. .
