Medical Society Wants To Raise Gun Awareness
WOONSOCKET, R.I. -- The Rhode Island Medical Society said Tuesday that parents should ask an important question when their children visit another home to play: Do the people keep a gun in the house?
NBC 10's Kelley McGee reported that the society launched a new awareness campaign in Woonsocket on Tuesday.
Posters will appear around the state that highlight the fact that children are more likely to play in a home with a gun than a dog. .

Lightning Strike Ignites Huge R.I. Blaze
A lightning strike triggered a massive explosion and fire on the Providence waterfront late Tuesday, but no injuries were reported.
NewsCenter 5's Gail Huff reported that the blaze erupted about 10:30 p.m. as a gasoline tanker was offloading fuel at a dock along Providence Harbor.
Fierce thunderstorms rolled through the area and four lightning strikes were reported at the port as the 600-foot Nord Europa was unloading its fuel. .
